Roy Percy

Roy Percy is a sole practitioner in the areas of criminal defense and civil litigation. He has extensive trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts.

In his criminal defense practice, Roy has represented clients charged with offenses ranging from drug trafficking, burglary, aggravated assault and firearms offenses to counterfeiting, wire fraud, kidnaping for ransom, bank robbery, and capital murder. Regularly accepting appointments to defend the indigent accused, Roy is a member of the CJA Panel for the Northern District of Mississippi, a panel of federal criminal defense attorneys approved to represent indigent defendants in the district under the Criminal Justice Act. He also serves as the district’s CJA Panel Representative to the court and to the Office of Defender Services in the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.

Roy has a diverse civil litigation practice, representing plaintiffs and defendants in the areas of divorce and family law, personal injury, and business litigation. Roy serves on the Uniform Local Civil Rules Advisory Committee for the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, which advises those courts on rules amendments drafted and recommended by the committee.

Roy also has an active appellate practice, presenting briefs and oral argument on behalf of clients in Mississippi’s appellate courts and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, where Roy has obtained a number of favorable decisions on issues of first impression resulting in published opinions.

Roy has been an adjunct professor at the University of Mississippi School of Law since 2012.
